Following a risk and performance review of the District’s parks and community facilities operations, Xyst was requested to step in at short notice to cover a staff management vacancy. This lead to a long-term engagement to provide complete management service for the delivery of the District’s public facilities, parks and places. In addition to typical operational work including parks and amenities contract management and performance auditing, we made significant progress implementing a range of system improvements and capital development projects. Projects to date include: development of Parks and Amenities Strategy; successful TIF application for three new toilets and dump station together with procurement and project management; Sec 17A review for the swimming pools and establishment of new contract; pool heating and water systems upgrade; Maukatua reserve development; preparation of first asset management plan; development and maintenance plan for Man Made Hill, which includes native planting and MTB track; Alps to Ocean interim trail management; parks asset data collection, condition assessment and valuation; Fairlie Peace Trees assessment and project management of maintenance works contract, Lake Ruataniwha Reserve management plan; signage and wayfinding design manual.
